Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) at Eastern Michigan University is a part-time position (minimum 20 hours per week) running from August 24, 2025 through April 30, 2027. The graduate assistant will provide direct academic mentoring and support to student-athletes, helping them develop study strategies, time management skills, and independent learning habits. The role includes collaboration with coaches and academic staff, adherence to NCAA and Mid-American Conference regulations, and active involvement in student-athlete development programming. Compensation includes 9 graduate credits per semester and a $10,000 annual stipend.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Full-time enrollment in an EMU graduate program and maintenance of good academic standing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work with diverse student populations
• Knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends
• Successful background check

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one and group academic mentoring sessions
• Develop individualized study and time management plans
• Monitor study tables and complete class checks
• Communicate academic progress reports to coaches
• Assist with student-athlete development programming and recruiting weekends
• Maintain FERPA compliance and adhere to NCAA and MAC regulations
• Complete required data entry and documentation tasks
